System practice

Clear water starts with clear decisions

Those who plan or operate today are now faced with new challenges: legal requirements, economic hurdles, and existing infrastructures. At the same time, numerous plants have significant potential for optimization in terms of water protection and operation. Therefore, solutions are needed that work reliably, require little maintenance, and are effective in the long term.

Our technology offers the right solution for this: scalable in situ microflotation that efficiently removes not only microplastics and micropollutants, but also other particulate and particulate-bound substances directly from the water. Complemented by our modern and highly precise in-house analytics, this creates a data-based overall system that can be seamlessly integrated into existing infrastructures and provides clear evidence of the reduction of pollutants and particles in the water.

How MicroBubbles solves the challenges of water purification

Regulations

New EU requirements, such as the Municipal Waste Water Directive (KARL), tighten limit values and monitoring obligations for microplastics and pollutants.

Modular system

With the MicroBubbles modules, easily scalable and customised solutions can be integrated into existing systems.

Maintenance

The high degree of automation of the MicroBubbles modules enables long maintenance cycles while ensuring high operational reliability.

Efficiency

Low energy consumption for high TSS63 separation rates. Our products work efficiently and require minimal space.

Our volume-proportional composite and TSS samplers enable precise monitoring in stormwater treatment basins and relieve municipal operators, industries, and other operators using stormwater treatment plants alike. They reliably collect microplastics, micropollutants, and other particles, ensure planning reliability through regulatory compliance, can be seamlessly integrated thanks to their modular design, and deliver reliable results with minimal use of resources.

Regulatory compliance also includes the requirements of DWA-A 102 “Principles for the management and treatment of stormwater runoff for discharge into surface waters.” This worksheet focuses on water protection in connection with precipitation-related urban runoff. It defines planning principles and practical recommendations for both separate and combined systems with the aim of sustainably minimizing the entry of undesirable substances into water bodies and soil.

This enables our customers and partners to easily comply with legal requirements, conserve resources, and operate their plants safely in the long term.

Concept of our in situ microflotation technology

Our technology is based on innovative and patented in situ microflotation, which is installed directly in the treatment tank and operates fully automatically. We use an advanced pressure relief flotation process, in which water is enriched with air under pressure and then released. This creates extremely fine gas bubbles to which microplastics and other hydrophobic pollutants adhere and which transport them to the water surface without the use of chemicals. They are then skimmed off with the aid of a skimmer.

A scalable modular technology based on physical microflotation has been developed to improve existing and new rainwater treatment systems without the addition of chemicals. Initial investigations in various rainwater clarification basins show that the retention of filterable substances (< 63 μm), especially tire abrasion, can be more than doubled compared to pure sedimentation. The technology thus offers an effective solution to the increasing anthropogenic pollution of water bodies by urban surface runoff.

We rely on a combination of modular container technology and in situ units to implement our technology. This allows even complex infrastructures and wastewater streams with high loads to be treated reliably.

Land unit

10-foot container with pumps for treatment, in this case for up to 630 m³ of water per hour

In situ-unit

Bubble generation unit for minimally invasive application directly in water

A Skimmer collects and removes particles from the brown water body.

Skimmer

Collection and removal of flotate (particles & pollutants) from the surface

The technology is complemented by our analytics, which records the particle count, size distribution, and pollutant concentration in real time. This not only results in highly efficient cleaning, but also provides reliable evidence for operators, authorities, and investors.
